Dominguez Extended Family Session | Suffolk, Virginia

Some sessions feel beautiful the moment you arrive—and the Dominguez extended family session in Suffolk, Virginia was one of those rare experiences that felt like stepping into living history.

This is a family you can tell is deeply and genuinely connected. The Dominguez family lives on a large property in Suffolk, where land, legacy, and family life are beautifully intertwined. Their extended family session included parents and their three adult children, two of whom are married, making it the perfect opportunity to document both individual relationships and the strength of the family as a whole.

A Suffolk Family Session Rooted in Legacy

During the session, Gavino shared that their family comes from a long line of ranchers, and that heritage could be felt in every detail—from the land itself to the way they moved together so naturally. Their property isn’t just scenic; it’s meaningful. They keep chickens, care for animals, and rent out portions of their land for agriculture.

Each season brings something new to their fields. Last year featured peanuts, while previous years have grown corn and cotton, giving their Suffolk property a rich, ever-changing backdrop that speaks to both tradition and stewardship.

Meaningful Details That Tell a Deeper Story

One of the most touching moments of the session was Natalie’s hat—a piece that belonged to her late father. Incorporating something so personal added an emotional layer to the images, turning photographs into heirlooms that will carry meaning far beyond this moment.

The family also pulled out their antique Ford truck, which added a timeless, nostalgic feel to the session and perfectly reflected their ranching roots and love for tradition.

To close the evening, we walked over to visit and feed some incredibly friendly horses—an unplanned but perfect ending that felt more like a memory unfolding than a photoshoot.

An Extended Family Session That Felt Like Home

Sessions like this are the reason I love on-location family photography in Suffolk, Virginia. Being photographed on their own land allowed the Dominguez family to relax, connect, and simply be themselves. Nothing felt rushed or forced—just genuine moments shared between people who truly enjoy being together.

I’m so grateful to this beautiful family for welcoming me into their space and trusting me to document moments that already felt like memories while we were creating them.
