A Joyful Fall Family Session with the Kratoville Family
Photographing another photographer’s family always feels a little extra meaningful. When Anna reached out, I was honestly so honored. She is an incredible wedding and portrait photographer in the Yorktown area, and she and her husband Russ recently moved back to the Peninsula to be closer to her family. Getting to capture this season for them felt really special.
Their kids, Russell, Stella, Emmett and Millie, arrived after a long car ride with lots of exciting scenery around them. Even with all the distractions, they did such an amazing job. They played, they spun with Dad, they ran around together, and they listened so well. And yes, even if getting photos taken was not exactly at the very top of Russell’s personal to do list, he still powered through like a champ.
I especially loved photographing Emmett and Millie since they are the same ages as my middle two kids. There was an instant comfort there, and it reminded me why I love keeping sessions fun and full of movement. Kids do so much better when they can play a little. It helps carry them through those moments when posing feels like a lot, and it keeps the energy light and natural.
I always say with family sessions that we aim for “everyone’s eyeballs” for that family shot with everyone smiling. Someone may not feel like smiling but if they are looking my direction, I call it a win!
I am so grateful Anna chose me out of the many photographers in the Hampton Roads and Peninsula area. It truly means so much to be trusted with these memories. If you’re dreaming of family photos that feel natural and genuine, I’d love to help you create them. Reach out anytime to start planning your session!
