Rainy and Romantic Colonial Williamsburg Elopement

Last summer, Clay and Erika took me on a walk down memory lane through Colonial Williamsburg - both for them and for me. I lived in Williamsburg when I was really young, almost too young to remember, but I do remember some! We lived close to Busch Gardens and I could remember hearing the train whistle occasionally, and always loved special times when my dad would take me to the Wythe Candy shop to get a blue rock candy! For Erika and Clay, it was the spot where they first started dating, documented their engagement, and then finally this summer, tied the knot.

While dealing with an unfortunate rescheduling situation due to COVID, they decided that they didn’t want to wait any longer to make it official, and would still celebrate later on with all of their friends and family down the road. We went back to where it all started for them, and they were able to have their immediate family and maid of honor / best man join them as well.

It was looking like rain was imminent all afternoon, so Erika and Clay opted to go underneath a walkway so we wouldn’t be interrupted during the ceremony. After, we headed down around the gardens to finish the day with some stunning portraits just before the rain descended.

It was such an honor and privilege to have been chosen to photograph their engagement season as well as the day they decided to follow their hearts and get married!
