Bruce and Gail’s Mimosa Barn Wedding
My last wedding of 2019 was at the stunning Mimosa Barn on the Eastern Shore last October. (Better late than never at blogging…right?) The Mimosa Barn is situated just across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. After turning off the main highway, I drove down a beautiful lane lined with fields and saw the Barn approaching up ahead. The day was gorgeous - perfectly warm but without being hot. After taking a quick tour of the venue, I headed straight in to see Gail and meet her bridesmaids who were putting the finishing touches on hair and makeup, and beginning to pull their dresses on!
Gail had not one, not two, but THREE adorable bridesmaids! If Gail hadn’t been so stunning walking down the aisle, these three definitely would’ve stolen the show! (Fun fact, after the reception I actually spent a seriously long time talking to Gail’s sisters-in-law about birth stories since I was about 8 months pregnant shooting this wedding, so it was super amazing to be able to chat about both of their experiences!)
Next, I was able to go just upstairs to the attic, say hi to Bruce and meet his groomsmen for the first time! They laughed, drank some beers, ate some pizza, and prayed together before getting ready to head down to the ceremony!
The ceremony was truly moving. The couple started by worshipping together, which is my favorite component that couples add to their ceremony! It’s unique and takes time to give praise to the One who brought them together! In addition to the incredible emotion and beauty of the couple, both the venue and the design of the wedding were OVER THE TOP GORGEOUS! I mean…those florals?! Come on! How stunning! I’m always a sucker for The Hanging Gardens’ work!
After the ceremony, we popped over and took some family portraits (I take pride in knocking these out quickly and efficiently so we can have MORE TIME TO PARTY!!!). With those completed, it was one of my favorite times of the day…bridal party and couples’ portraits!!
The Mimosa Barn lets their couples bury Bourbon to dig up on their wedding day! This southern tradition helps ward off any unwanted rain on the big day. (Although I totally also believe the superstition that rain on your wedding day is good luck!) Either way, it worked! The sky was totally clear and beautiful!
Before the reception kicked off, I was able to snap a few of the details. And let me tell you…yes, those cupcakes were just as good as they looked. They also totally were worth the I’m-gluten-intolerant-but-today-I-don’t-care stomach cramps.
The space was perfectly curated by Madeline at Freckled Event Co. I know she spent countless hours working with the couple before and during the wedding to make sure that their vision came to life!
What a true joy and privilege it was to be able to capture Bruce and Gail’s best day of their lives….so far!
