Catherine & Jon’s Colonial Williamsburg Elopement
Back in April, Catherine and Jon opted to secretly elope before their planned wedding in May due to COVID19. Instead of waiting for the rescheduled date this coming fall, they knew they wanted to go ahead and tie the knot.
We decided on a spot last minute right outside the Williamsburg Inn. Again, because of the coronavirus, most places around and in Williamsburg were completely shutdown or only partially operating. It was a super beautiful day, and all the flowers around Williamsburg were in bloom! We just had to find the perfect spot. One of my other clients (who was friends with Catherine) suggested shooting right here in this archway, because the wisteria was in full bloom! Best decision ever.
After their ceremony, we walked over to the restored area to take some portraits in the gardens and again, the flowers did not disappoint. Although Williamsburg was technically “shut down”, lots of people were out getting exercise and taking in the fresh air. It was really nice to see people taking time to just spend a little quality time outside!

Finally, my absolute favorite part. Catherine and Jon opted to have their own mini-reception by picking up beer and tacos from Precarious Beer Project in Colonial Williamsburg. They had a great little table outside to order and pick up (while maintaining 6 feet distance, of course!!). I didn’t have a beer but the tacos were PHENOMENAL.
I’m so grateful to have to been able to capture Catherine and Jon’s (first) big day.
