Rainy Raven’s Roost Engagement Session
Let me start off by saying what troopers Lauren and Jeremy were before and during this session! (It had already been delayed due to COVID19 from back in April)
I passed through Charlottesville and out of nowhere clouds came rolling in. “Oh well…it’ll probably pass”. Next, I turned and passed through Crozet and hopped on the Blue Ridge Parkway and watched as rain poured in the distance. “Well…we’re already here” was my next thought.
I arrived at Raven’s Roost about half an hour before I was scheduled to meet Lauren and Jeremy and was sweating a little bit. Both them and I had driven a decent distance to get here and I didn’t really have time in my schedule to push back their engagement session any further.
Fortunately, by the time Lauren and Jeremy arrived, the rain had calmed down to a sprinkle and we decided we were going to JUST DO IT! And honestly? The results were pretty incredible. I’ve never been above the clouds (except in an airplane, of course) and I was blown away with how gorgeous the mountains looked fresh after a storm.
We chatted a little bit about how life was in Richmond, how the pandemic has affected our lives, and I got to hear more about Lauren and Jeremy’s love story. Initially they met online and Lauren completely ghosted Jeremy (his words, not mine!). Turns out…they actually went to the same church! They normally went to different services and hadn’t run into one another, but one time did and Lauren recognized Jeremy from when they had talked online. Needless to say…she gave it another shot.
Lauren and Jeremy were such a wonderful couple to work with for their engagement shoot, and I’m really excited for their wedding next month. I appreciate so much when couples give me their trust during their sessions, and allow me to be a little creative (especially when it involves the rain!)
Getting married in 2021? My dates are going fast and I’d love to help you create images that feel like memories as well!
