Sydney + Danny, Black Rock Summit
Good Morning friends!
Grab yourself a coffee or tea, settle in, and get ready to feast your eyes on Sydney and Danny’s engagement session!
To start, the three of us all graduated from CNU in 2016 which was so cool to be able to reunite! Sydney and Danny were super involved with a capella in college, and actually met freshman year and performed at CNU’s got talent! Want to hear the cutest thing? The song they performed - Payphone by Maroon 5 - will be their first dance song! I adore when songs have special meaning like that.
What started off as friendship grew to be sooooo much more! After getting engaged in Shenandoah months ago, they knew they wanted to do their engagement pictures in the same spot. It was an early morning for the two of them, as they commuted from the DC area, but these two love to travel. We got to chat about places they had been and what was on their bucket list to go to (it’s a long list, and I LOVE that!).
On our little hike up to the summit, we reminisced about CNU, bonded over the fact that we had a mutual love for Nancy Drew computer games. I say past tense because the only reason I haven’t played them in a while is because…kids. But yep, I was pretty obsessed with them for a while.
Midway through the session, we got a little unanticipated scare. While we were walking to another spot, Danny left his jacket on the rocks. By the time we realized it had been left, it looked like another hiker had picked it up and taken it, which was a huge issue because it had both his phone and car keys in it. Sydney and I frantically went searching for the jacket while Danny sprinted down the path after the hiker. Eventually, we found the jacket, keys and all! But it was a little more excitement than we were prepared for that early in the morning!
These two love each other a lot, and it really, really shows. Watching Sydney’s face light up talking about (or to) Danny made me smile. I can honestly say that our session was so much fun and that I truly believe the pictures reflect how easy and carefree their love is.
Danny and Sydney are getting married in December and I cannot WAIT! They will most likely be my last wedding of 2020 before heading into the birthday celebrations for the boys in the family, and then Christmas! I know that I’ll be ending the year on a high note with these two.
Interested in documenting YOUR love in Shenandoah National Park? I’m heading back to the mountains and offering discounted travel fees if your date align with when I’ll be there! Let’s talk.
